Improvised Chocolate Mousse
I wanted something sweet and rich for dessert, but nothing in the freezer, but I did have a 1/3 of a can of coconut cream in the refrigerator. I folded in 2 Tbsp of raw cacao powder and a teaspoon of honey. Instant non-dairy, paleo dark chocolate mouse - rich, bittersweet… Just the way I like it. Done and down in 5 minutes. Most important, it hit the spot! Loosely based on a recipe I found on Mark’s Daily Apple.

Ashcroft and Capitol Peak
Ashcroft Quaking aspens of Ashcroft and Capitol Peak today. I hiked up the first 3/4 mile of the Cathedral Lake trail, but spent much of it shooting video before I turned around. Afterward I shot images at the Ashcroft ghost town. I got some good breezes and will post some video after I return to the studio and edit it together. Capitol Peak Images of a colorful valley of fall aspens from the Capitol Peak trailhead.

Final Cut Pro X Caught Me By Surprise
Apple updated Final Cut Pro X to Version 10.1. Navigating between the windows seems to have changed. Some buttons on the bottom of the Project window are gone. It took about a half hour to get used to navigating around. I had to create a new logo bug, but I was able to update a video. It’s rendering, I’ll post it tomorrow morning.

Rain On the Way
It’s been a cold and wet 2010. We’re expecting one last storm before the year ends. If I were in Tehachapi, I’d be hunkering down for 2 feet of snow and 45 MPH winds with gusts to 75.

Inflation and the Sermon Illustration
I was listening to my Church’s Sermon from last Sunday. My pastor used the illustration of a someone in the church asking him if she should buy a $150 pair of jeans. I like to imagine what inflation does to our illustrations. How would someone have asked “Should I buy a pair of $150 jeans” in the 1950’s? I looked up the prices for a pair of jeans in the 1950’s and today, which I assume were Levi 501’s in 1957 and compared them to a pair sold by Zappos today.
